Common questions

The tithi or a time looks a few minutes off. Times are calculated on your device for the location you select, using the sunrise (udayat) tithi and a Lahiri ayanamsa. They can differ from a printed panchang by a few minutes, and near a tithi boundary a day may differ from an India-based panchang because your local sunrise is different. Please confirm important dates with your guru or sangh.

A Kalyanak date is marked “Date unverified”. A few Kalyanak dates come from a single source we could not confirm; they are marked wherever they appear. If you know the correct date, please write to us.

Reminders stop after a while. iOS keeps only about 64 scheduled reminders, so Nitya schedules the soonest ones and tops them up each time you open the app. Open the app at least once a week if you use many reminders. Daily timers repeat on their own.

I don’t get notifications. Allow notifications for Nitya in iOS Settings → Notifications, and check that Focus / Do Not Disturb is not silencing them.

Languages. Use the globe button (or Settings) to switch between English, Hindi and Gujarati.

The ritual screen ignores my taps. That is deliberate, so the phone can rest untouched during Pratikraman. Press and hold the lock icon for two seconds to reach the controls.
